Anniversary countdown gift
An anniversary they can open from the other side of the map
A long-distance anniversary is mostly a date on two phones. A countdown gives that date a few mornings of company before it arrives.
What a far-apart anniversary can hold
Day 1
Your morning, my night
I saved this from the call where the light behind you was already gone.
Day 4
The airport
You hate this photo. It is still the one I want them to see.
Day 9
A plan
Sealed until its date.
Day 14
The day
Sealed until its date.
Why the timezone is part of the gift
If they are in Tokyo and you are in New York, “the morning of our anniversary” is not your morning. MakeCountdown stores their timezone with the date. Day 14 opens at midnight where they wake up, not where you built it.
That is the whole trick for a long-distance anniversary gift: the link does not care which phone opens it, and it does not open early just because your day has already started.
What to put in it
Fourteen days is a good anniversary length. You do not need a poem. You need things only the two of you recognize.
- The photo you both pretend is a bad one.
- A sentence from an old message, copied by hand, not screenshotted.
- The name of a dinner you will actually book.
- On the last morning, one photo they have not seen.
The link stays private
The address is a random string. It is not their name, and it is not listed for search engines. You can send it in a message the week before, or the night you decide the gift is real.
